Clutch Shatter Shield

Postby tputland » Fri Sep 05, 2014 9:24 am

Does any one know if a shatter shield is required by any sanctioning bodies where our Roadster run? Is any one running of any sort of shield on their bell housing?

Thanks
tim

Pretty sure SCCA required one when I was racing. Car had plate steel welded around the transmission tunnel.

They are a good thing. Had a partial failure of a pressure plate at Mid Ohio once. Put fist sized holes through the bell housing. Was able to finish the race, but transmission was hard to shift. Wasn't until I was pulling the car onto the trailer that I discovered the big holes in the bell housing.

Thanks. Now to decide whether to buy it for myself (and keep my autocross/racing part acquisition moving forward) or sell it for the owner......
