Yes, Bill did finish fifth!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

It was the best we could do with out someone crashing out or breaking.

Bill went from sixth to fifth when he dove on the inside of Jeff Winter with just a couple of laps to go.

I can't wait for the speedtv coverage!!

We've been celebrating since!

Hey all....yes, we brought the roadster home in 5th place in the nation and the fastest out of my division (Central). Nissan placed 4 out of the top 5 spots in GP.

Back home after the long week and long drive....back to work tomorrow...fun's over. But we did real well. The old grey mule motor just kept on kicking (as it has all season) and I couldn't have asked for better. To finish in the top five was my goal and we did just that. Anything more would have come from someone else's misfortune and (with the possible exception of Winter's spin :P) that didn't happen.

We did have to work for it. Chris L., Chris C. and I changed the engine, rebuilt a brake caliper and made the car look pretty once again....but that's kinda routine for us now. I want to thank them, Jim Sloan for the use of his motorhome, Chris's wife Diane for seeing that we were all well fed, Dave McDowell for handling tips, and most of all, your support and well wishes. Good crew and support make racing fun; without it, it can be a real chore. A good finish obviously makes it all the more enjoyable.

Here's to a great season, three wins, Cendiv GP champ and fifth in the nation :D

See ya at the track!

Bill,

What more can be said, but Congrats on a fantastic season. It will take you days to wind down. Just enjoy the high. I am sure that there were a number of lows along the way there.

Best wishes and congratulations!!! :D :!:

Thanks Mike,

That's one from Gordon Jolley's gallery. He's one of the best motorsports photographers in the country. His site and gallery can be seen at
http://gordon.smugmug.com/gallery/27711

The other photo galleries from the Runoffs are at
http://www.digitalracephotography.com/

And also Showcase Photo
http://www.showcase-photo.com/Photos/SC ... Thumb1.htm

I will see if we can use some of these pics to grace our roadster racing site. Gordon's "smugmug" set-up seems to suggest that we can "share" the pics, but out of respect for these guys, it best to ask first.

Cheers,....oh, and don't forget, Speed Channel, Nov 22 at 2:00 pm EST!

Bill,

More photos here :

http://www.motorsportsimaging.com/

The only reason I posted that one , because he had a share
with a friend option on his site.

I also found some good ones of Randy car from one of his races
this year. I will have to look around a bit to find the link to those again.

Is 2PM EST the SpeedChannel's start time for GP?

Postby Gary Boone » Thu Nov 06, 2003 5:59 pm

Nov 22 is looking like a very busy day for me (have to travel to Denver for the SCCA year-end awards banquet and collect my 1st place CSP trophy :P ) So I plan to tape the Runoffs. Is 2 PM EST the start time for the entire event or GP?

Ah well....it was a better race from the cockpit than the armchair. I did get some air play. Moreso than the guys behind. I was really hoping to see the race between Winter and me and Winter's spin (when he left his braking too late at the end of the straight) that allowed me into fifth...but that was the same lap that Allen made the move on McColl. So next you heard was that "Winter dropped way back". It was satisfying to finish in the top five and see that captioned before they cut to commercials.

I don't know how the announcer gets "311 special" out of SPL311.....maybe I should just keep it to 1600 roadster! Dorsey had to correct him last year and Calvin this year.

'Course I read somewhere that Allen was in a Datsun SPL310 instead of PL510.

Congrats again to Prather on his fifth (two in a row), Dennis's for twice being second to him, Allen for a strong third and fastest race lap, and Nissan for four out of the top five!

And here's to next season!

Thrill

Postby Randy Carter » Mon Nov 24, 2003 7:15 am

Bill,

It was a thrill to watch you, Jay and Mark race. I love to watch almost any race, but it is even better to watch when you know the people. That old Datsun "special" did good.

Congratluations again!!! :D
