Way to go, Bill! I found it interesting that when the announcer first mentioned you, it was as "the #47 car", then it was "the Datsun S-P-L-311" and by the end of the broadcast he was up to "Roadster". :D The clock on my VCR was running a few minutes early, so I got the last couple of minutes of th...

Jeff- Bummer! I think you and the car need to get alone together and you need to find out why he's ticked off with you and then figure out how to make it all better. You've obviously done something wrong and you need to make it right. :P That's the only explanation of why this happened that I can th...

Thanks for the information. oilleak- Yes, I can put whatever rear end under the car that I want as long as it's a solid axle and doesn't violate the rear track rules. Not too many as narrow as our guys, so just about any of them will have to be cut down. IRS can change to solid axle, but not vice ve...

Yet Another Question or Two...

For autocross only, in lieu of an LSD, would a welded-up diff do? Zero % street miles. Oversteer is not an issue. I used to autocross with an LSD, and it posed no problems. Also, what about the size of the battery cable when the battery is relocated? I have some #8 AWG on hand, but after looking clo...

Thanks, Chris! You brought up some points I hadn't considered. Maybe some reading about suspensions is in order.

Rear Suspension Question

I have a question of those of you who have knowledge of, or have done a 3-link rear suspension. Is it really difficult? Or not really too bad? The car I'm thinking of converting already has the torque arm from the top of the 3rd member to the frame. If I replace the rear spring with a threaded tube ...

Where does your front suspension attach to? On mine it's the front part of the frame.

And E-Prepared with a 1600 at 1675 lbs using the 1.05 lbs/cc formula. To the best of my knowledge, it's based on the stock engine size, not any overbores. 1595 cc times 1.05 equals 1674.75 lbs.

FWIW, I read somewhere that when the crank spins, it trails "ropes" of oil, and that oil adds to the weight of the crank, and they also add resistance to the crank turning. Logic tells me that utilizing the threaded holes in the main caps and not supporting the outside edge would leave it prone to f...

Thanks everyone. I just got this e-mail back from Mark Ball at Koni: "The parts you listed are reds [I gave him #80-1750 & 1751]. These are made to stock dimensions and could cause a problem with your reduced ride height [I told him the car would be about 2" lower]. They are adjustable so they shoul...

I think what I'm going to do is use the NISMO rear springs (apparently they're still available) and the front springs from Datsun Sports. I think also I'll go with Konis all the way around. Since it will only be used for autocross, I don't think the trouble adjusting the Konis will be a problem. Tha...

Thanks, Randy & Gary. I'm making note of what people use so maybe I can make an informed decision when it comes time to do the suspension. What I used before was all the NISMO stuff over-the-counter. I used the ADDCO rear bar (via JC Witless), but I honestly don't remember the diameter. For me, for ...
