Roll Bar Mounting

Hi, all- I'm having a little trouble with interpreting the GCR and Solo2 rules as to the mounting of the roll bar in my car. The way I read it, it is OK to mount the structure to the body rather than the frame as long as all the other requirements are met. The Solo rules are a little more specific, ...

Thanks, Brian. I guess if I use open-ended lug nuts, then any inspectors can see I have enough threads engaged. After what I've been doing on the car, then a little more work won't be any big deal.

Wheel Stud Question

Hi, all- I'm looking for longer wheel studs for my Roadster (the stock ones are so dainty and cute), and ARP doesn't have an exact match, although the ones listed for "late GM with drum brakes" are the closest match. The thread is the same as what came off the car, but instead of having an...

Here is a photo from 1966: http://www.datsun.org/fairlady/1600motorsports.jpg Also of note, the carbs are Webers not Mikunis. And check out the air box... Hmm. 7 valves instead of 8. That must have been the "very rare" (isn't that what they always say on eBay?) low-friction head I've hear...

Believe it or not, a tip I got from Joe was to slather both sides of the gasket with axle grease. "Back in the day" that was what we did. One thing to look out for is that (at least) the silver 1600 head gaskets had these little wires sticking out into some of the holes. Your fingertips c...

Flywheel Question

Does anybody out there know if the flywheel for the 1200 would fit the R16 crank? I got no replies on 311s.org, but maybe somebody here knows.

TIA

Oops. Sorry for the double post. After the original post I got an error message, so I thought it hadn't posted. Immediately after hitting "submit" a second time, I realized it had gone through.

Banner Question

Off-hand, does anyone know how tall the "Tire Rack" banner is? I'd like to know so I'll know how high to make my windscreen. Thanks.

FWIW, when I was autocrossing back in the 70s, I used the stock pads and shoes on my 1600. Fade didn't used to be much of a problem back then, and racing pads have to be up to temp to work well, which they don't really have time to do at an autocross. Unless you try to warm them up in grid... Too li...

Congratulations on the win, and thanks for the write-up! Of course I can't speak for anyone else here, but as for me, I LOVE to read about our Roadsters in competition.

Thanks, NT. I saw that before, but since there was nothing listed for DP, then I didn't want to assume. You know what SCCA says about if it doesn't say you can... But, since I'm going to be over the 1595 lb weight anyway, I might as well use wider than 7" wheels since the penalty won't be adding mor...

Quest For Information

Hi, all. Unless you really don't want to reveal it, does anyone have any dyno numbers for 1600 race engines that they'd be willing to share? The reason behind this is really the new classing for Solo II. The 1600 seems to be now in DP along with the 1.6l and 1.8l Miatae. Doesn't seem equitable. Equa...
