Re: Crickets
Hi Dave, Long time buddy...good to see your post. Most race roadster talk these days has gone over to the 311's forum. https://www.311s.org/phpBB3/viewforum.php?f=10 and there is the SCCA prod board http://prodracing.com/prodcar/ That's probably your best bet for generating interest in the car to ta...

Re: Crickets
Hello Chris, I want to thank you for all you have done with this board (btw, like the new look) over the years. Still racing, though just vintage these days. However, Runoffs are at Road America in 2020 and that might just bring me out for another go! There's alot of info stored here. It would be a ...

Remembering Col. Joe
As a Datsun roadster guy, I looked up to Col. Joe. I had my own roadster that I raced, but was looking for a National car and who better to turn to than Joe. I tracked down his number (pre-internet days) called him and asked if he knew of any cars for sale. “Well…mine”, he said. And that is how I ca...

Re: Mike Poorboy RIP
Like Al I did not know Mike personally, but he was a roadster guy through and through and passed well before his time. My sympathies to Mike's family on their tragic loss.

Carrillo 1600 rod purchase
nothing like a nice stiff rod! Gents, I'm having some more 1600 rods built by Carrillo and they've said that with an order of 10+ rods, the price will be $294.50 per rod. I'm in for 5, so I'd just need one guy to order 5 more (one set + a spare) and we'd both benefit. Carrillo's are 3/4 of the weigh...

2013 Runoffs
I am sorry to say that in the 2013 50th anniversary Runoffs my roadster will not be on the grid. I have failed to qualify with only 3 finishes for 7 starts on the season. I've lost two engines in two successive events from broken cams. I had only broken one other cam in all the years before this and...

2013 June Sprints
Sorry race fans, very frustrating weekend and not much to report. I worked the week before to replace the engine that I'd used at Brainerd with the engine that had lost the head gasket at last years Runoffs. I wanted to find out the issue in this engine. What I found was that the pistons were just k...

Re: Brainerd Int. Raceway and 2013 season start
Hey Al, The blown gasket was due to the pistons just kissing the head near the spark plug and lifting it enough to relieve #4 cylinder out the back of the block and the water passages there. So I massaged the head in those areas and put in a slightly thicker gasket. Should be good. I've had one othe...

Brainerd Int. Raceway and 2013 season start
After an abortive weekend at BFR where I got taken out in qualifying, I got the car back together for BIR and picked up two wins, plus a track record. So we're back on track for the season and looking forward to June Sprints to test a new engine built for the 2012 runoffs that blew a head gasket. Ti...

Re: Fuel pump & AN fittings
Tim,
Did you find out what the thread was into and out of the pump? Because Summit or Speedway Motors supply all kinds of AN adapters especially in small -AN sizes (for brake fittings and such). Shouldn't be hard to find what you need if you have a thread pitch gauge (usually in a tap and die set).

Re: 2012 49th annual SCCA Runoffs
Hey roadster race fans, yesterday we put Datsun 1600 pushrods back up on the podium third step for the second time in as many years. We had an issue in qualifying with a new engine that popped the head gasket in the second session, so we changed back to last years engine for the race missing the thi...

2012 49th annual SCCA Runoffs
Hey roadster fans, It's that time of the season and again I'll be running up at Road America in FP with my 1600 at the 49th annual SCCA Runoffs. The schedule for the runoffs is found here. http://scca.cdn.racersites.com/prod/assets/2012_Schedule_for_print_revised_8.27.12.pdf I'll be racing at 1:30pm...

Re: Rear axle weight
hey Bill,
No idea what the complete carrier weighs, but the pumpkin weighs about 35lbs. Add the axles and the carrier and you'd know.

4.63 pinion gear
I had a bit of bad luck and damaged the pinion gear in my 4.63 diff. The ring gear looks fine but the pinion suffered.
So I'd be interested in the 8 tooth pinion mated to the 37 tooth ring gear of the 4.625 ratio (8:37) H190 diff, if someone by chance has one.
Thanks,
Bill

Re: push rods
Tim is right. The Ford y-block lifter can substitute (drop in) for the R16 lifter and the Isky pushrod is part number D013. Works great with a fresh set of Stan's reconditioned rockers.
good luck with your stroker project, Tim!
