Mike Poorboy RIP

Mike, one of our members of the racing community passed away. Mike was 55. Mike suffered a medical incident while driving alone, his car left the road and he was found unconscious, but passed away a short time later. My condolences to his family for his untimely passing. God Speed and Rest in Peace....

Re: Retainers and Lash Pads

Thanks Stan, this is a difficult situation, I have another vendor that can make them, but they will not be cheap because of such low demand.

Re: Watkins Glen 2011 Vintage GP

Mike, I agree, and the Glen is on the bucket list. The problem is that I race with a bunch of 510 guys and there is a big gathering of B sedan's and Trans Am cars at RA for the 40th anniversary of the 1970 U2.5 Trans AM. It is the feature for the weekend. Clearly we can't be at both events, and I am...

Re: Watkins Glen 2011 Vintage GP

A number of us went to the Mitty last year and this year we wanted to go to the Glen, but it looks like we are going to be attending an event at Road America in September and will try to make the Glen next year.

Re: Retainers and Lash Pads

Every so often I am reminded of the kindness of others. Yesterday I received an email from a member on this site who offered to send me the parts I need to solve my valvetrain issues.

I will be sure to pay it forward, thanks!

Re: Retainers and Lash Pads

Dean does not have the retainers any longer, 11/32" custom valves already exist for the motor so I would rather not buy new valves, and have new guides installed. I don't think we will turn down the top valves to 8mm although that is an option. I would like to find the "right" parts f...

Re: Retainers and Lash Pads

Thanks Mike, I have valves for the motor already :( and would like to use what I have. I am tempted to have a set of retainers made to work with L series lash pads etc.

Re: Retainers and Lash Pads

Dave was not specific, maybe because I was treading on one of his tricks or maybe because it isn't a good idea. No way to know.

He indicated that your valve stems might have a larger than stock diameter and that would not work for my application.

Hard to know for sure.

Re: Retainers and Lash Pads

I called Dave, he says you have a different set up and not something he would run in a race motor :(

Back to square one. Does anyone know the taper of the keepers on a roadster. I am looking at having a set of L series retainers reworked to work on a roadster.

Thanks,

Re: Retainers and Lash Pads

Interesting Will, I guess it would be a specific set of Toyota parts...Not sure that Dave would tell me. But, I will give him a shout.

Thanks,

Retainers and Lash Pads

Hi Guys,

I am looking for retainers and Lash Pads for my reground Iski cam.

My preference would be for retainers that take the L seris lash pad, but will settle for U-20 retainers and lash pads.

Thanks,

Re: Coronado 2010 September 25th & 26th

Hi Roe, I do run an ultraclose gearbox, and put the motor through it's paces, yet, not too hard as we have over 50 hours on the motor up to this point and it has been very reliable. I have found that my car because of it's fairly mild cam is more of a torque motor rather than a top end motor so I do...
