Re: Crickets

Wow, I thought this site had died a long time ago. Actually, I could use some help from what might be left of the community. The time has come for me to divest myself of my racer after 44 years. Unfortunately I don’t know where to start anymore. The last time I ran my car was runoffs 2002. I complet...

Chris's suggestions are good but I would also go larger on the front bar. Stock roadster suspension geometry goes real wrong if you let it travel towards the limits. Also, put a piece of clay on top of your bump stops or whatever limits your suspension travel front and rear. If you are hitting the l...

I may know where one of these might be available. One of the folks who got one of these units for auto cross mentioned that he thought he needed more mass to get a smother launch off the line and may go back to the alum one. It likely won't be cheap as it wasn't to begin with but if anyone is seriou...

Bill (and others) There is an article in the July 06 (just out) issue of Circle Track Magazine relative to transmission alignment. If I could figure out how to post pictures on this forum I would include a scan of a portion of the article which shows images and discusses the result of transmission m...

Bill, assuming you dont have an issue with the dimension stack-up with the new trans input shaft loading the end of the crank shaft then the predominant load on the thrust faces will come from the clutch. The unit you are using (which I am familiar) should not be loading the crank excessively. Howev...

The D-Prod 2-litre initially ran with the SUs. At some point (Dont remember dates), the Mikunis were added to the specs along with other changes like modified front brakes. In the mid 80s (84/85) the 2-litre was moved to GT-3 and D-Prod was eliminated. Mikunis were specified with no restrictions on ...

Randy, If your serious about petitioning the comp board for changes, the time to do it is before the Runoffs. The comp board meets with the production racers during the week to review requested changes, get competitors input and set up their plan for introducing changes for the coming season. If you...

Actually the 2-litre was originally classified with SUs in D-Production. The original Solex classification was C-Production. The D-Prod 2-Litre was upgraded to Solex carbs in the late 70s or early eightys (can't recall exactly when). I have been told by one of the club directors (previously an E-pro...

Russel, Check to see which side of the axle housing the vent is located on. The gear lube has a tendancy to fill up the axle tube especially in long sweepers and block off the vent. When this happens, pressure builds quickly and forces the lube out the seals. This problem is amplified with synthetic...
