Re: Crickets

Sure, rub it in!

It's too friggin' cold in an unheated shed for me to be working out there. Maybe come Spring.

Maybe.

Crickets

Would someone please feed the crickets? They must be getting hungry as they're getting louder.

Re: Roll Cage

... (so much for rear visibility) ... Hey Will- Here in Utah you don't even NEED a rear view mirror. If you did have rear visibility, you'd just see the front differential of some lifted pick-em-up about one car length back. Sometimes it's just better to not know what's back there. <sigh>

Re: Roll Cage

Hey Will-

Is yours a weld-in, or a bolt-in with backing plates?

Thanks for the replies. I'll keep all this in mind when I get to that point, although I'm still leaning toward the custom radiator and electric water pump. I have this "thing" about following the mainstream if there's a viable alternative. That's what got me started down the Datsun road in...

Cooling Question

I'm building a track-day (with some Solo) R16 and I was just wondering what the racers out there are using for coolant hoses. I plan on replacing the water pump with an electric unit, and the radiator hoses with AN braided hoses. I'll be having a custom radiator built because I want one. How much co...

Header Question

Hi all. I was wondering what the R16 racers here use for an exhaust manifold. I'm not even close to this point yet, but since I have lots of time to think, I was wondering if I should go to the time and expense to design a header, or use one of the off-the-shelf ones that the vendors sell. I'm think...

Oil Temp Sensor

I realize the best place for an oil temperature sensor would be in the line from the cooler back to the engine, but I don't have an oil cooler at this time. Would it be OK to install the sensor low enough on the side of the oil pan to be covered by oil? I know that the oil goes from the pan through ...

Chris- Thanks for the input, I was hoping I was in the ballpark. I made my own adapter to take the oil off the engine block at about the same time you were making yours, but mine is not so well designed. I used a chunk of 1" aluminum that I had laying around and just offset the holes, tapering ...

R16 Oil Pump Question

( I posted this over on 311s.org but then realized that not everyone reads both forums. So here's my question: ) This question is directed at those who have shimmed the relief valve in the oil pump in the R16 for competition purposes. How thick a shim do I need to add to have the valve release at ab...

Bucky, For what I can remember the rules from the Solo2 rule book are pretty basic on attachement. The bar doesn't have to be attached to the frame. Remember most of the new car don't have frames, they are unibody. I believe they give you a minimum tubing size for the weight of the car, and the siz...
